Question about Betta's?

Question:

thanks in advance...

Answers:

PS You could likely stop using the MelaFix, when my bettas jumped their divider (now they have seperate tanks) they got in a huge fight with many fin and gill injuries, I only treated them with salt and their fins grew back just fine and quickly.

It should be fine to put a plant in there. If the medication doesn't work anymore just simply take it out.

aquarium filter not working?

Question:

i went to college and left my aquarium for my mom to take care of. when i got back it was pretty filthy. and now, my filter is not working properly, it used to suck up the water from the tank and then throw it back out the top and it would give off bubbles with it, now its not giving off the bubbles (probably not oxygenating the tank?). is this b/c it might be clogged or something? should i change the filter cartridge thing? i mean, it was pretty new, i only had it about 2 weeks. how often am i supposed to change the filter cartridge?

Answers:

Yea its probably clogged with crap out of the tank, you can rinse the cartridge in TANK WATER ONLY, the carbon in the cartridges only lasts a couple of weeks really...but you dont need to go replacing those til 1-2 months.

Good Luck!

Skittles Osmosis/Diffusion Experiment?

Question:

I do not think this is the same as a chromatography test.

Answers:

(This is still chromatography. There's a lot of different ways it can be done, maybe your earlier lesson on "chromatography tests" did it differently? And it's a bit hidden by the use of candy and all the cups.)

Yes; diffusion allowed the dye to reach all the water in the cup without stirring, and also to go up the paper. Everything did reach equilibrium. Not sure osmosis really applies in filter paper.

OMG HELP my fish sick? maby?

Question:

o btw today my water tested and its seems to be perfect said the fish keeper at store...

Answers:

Hope it helped.

they have ich sorry to tell you but they are slowly dieing unless you buy a ich medication this isn't a thing that goes away by itself so if you don't treat it quick they will die. ps: fish get ich by filthy conditions so think about that.

if there is white stuff on them they can have ich but if a fish keeper checked it they MIGHT be okay. depends on how well of a fish keeper he is though

Hey! just needed 2 for next level, sorry!

for people who have reef tanks?

Question:

do you have a deep sand bed, shallow sand bed or bare bottom? and why

Answers:

thats an overview of my JBJ 12 gallon nano cube and i had fun writing it!

I have a ten gallon nano reef, the aquarium systems seaclone protein skimmer 100 (piece of crap, don't buy it.) I use instant ocean and an aquarium systems hydrometer (pretty accurate). I use a tetra 15 hang on back filter, hydor (I think that's the name...) powerhead. They're the round ones with the ball joint and magnetic back, super good performance. I have a deep sand bed, a mix of coral sand and very fine playground sand. The anaerobic bacteria grow in there where there's no oxygen and turn nitrate into nitrogen gas, so it helps keep the nitrates down which is important in a small system. I have no refugium or sump, I just stick macroalgae in the display and let it float around. Plus I already have a deep sand bed in there, so my tank is kind of like one big refugium I suppose. The crabs eat the macro and I don't mind how it looks.

Personally I don't have one but having a reef tank can be a very special experience for some people.
